war on tv is just boring.

every time it's the same. they make war and i believe them. i turn on tv to be informed on the latest news (but why?) but i just get bombed with senseless informations. another victim in the information-war. in fact, there is no information but desinformation: just meaningless repetition and repetition and repetition that lull me to sleep and make me turn off thinking. i'm hypnotized in front of the telly like a rabbit in front of a snake - under fire of unnecessary data-trash trash-data. instead of going out on the streets, i'm sitting paralized in front of a screen. this ain't "getting informed"- this is "getting anestheized".

television can only mediate information if this information is connected to pictures- and those pictures aren?t available free under the pressure of censorship in war. so all the certain parties help out and deliver their propaganda and tv stations have no problem to use this "information". "serious" stations mention this fact from time to time while others send e.g. commercials of manufacturers of weapons without any comment. really consequent would be to report nothing. when there is nothing to say except lies, keeping your mouth shut is the better option.
maybe information-technic will be so cheap one day that uncensored information will be available again. it?s not unthinkable: independent reporters send drones into a war region. even today there are non-governmental organisations buying satellite pictures - this is a first step into this direction.

but until that status the best option in wartimes is: tv off, it's better to read a newspaper one time a day. printmedia also doesn?t report without censorship but a critical judgement on the information is more likely than on tv pictures. because all tv-stations are becoming the voices of the ministries of propaganda: the truth is the first victim of war - this is a well-known fact yet. there is no increase in perception by zapping through 48-channels and seeing the same pictures over and over again.and in most cases there is only one party in wartimes getting their version of the events in the news - this makes the whole coverage more monotonous and one-sided. the hunt for the latest events is just without any sense: war- i saw it live, yeah!

it may sound cynical but it is just boring. it is boring, because the pictures could have captured 10 years ago in another war. it is boring, because the pictures are always the same. "war never changes" is a samle on vdz break1 and this should be the real moral from propaganda warfare for us. nothing changes, you are just a passive consumer. eat shit and die.
but war is always sold to us as something interesting, something happening now in this moment, something you shouldn?t miss. this is just simply a lie, and i began to find out how monotonous the whole thing is. so it?s not me who?s cynical, the one who is sick of all this, cynical is the state of mind of the ones fighting wars.
it's exactly that feeling showing an alternative to this paralysation. there is nothing interesting to watch men killing - it?s not exciting. simply not exciting, not thrilling, just boring brutality or brutal boring. not even in a negative sense "oh my god- i?m shocked" but just pure wasteland. but it also makes me angry to see this spectacle performed again and again. every time it?s the same- now it?s enough. this time the spectators stand up, getting on the stage and chase away the actors. this could lead to the result described by willian s. burroughs as "the end of the war-game".

tv off. get on the streets.

The Washington Post.
